1/2 Teaspoon

3/4 Teaspoons

Salt

1/2 Cup

Unsalted butter, melted and cooled

1/2 Cup

Light brown sugar, packed

1/3 Cup

Granulated sugar

2 Teaspoons

Vanilla extract

1 Whole

Large egg

1 1/2 Cup

Semisweet chocolate chips

as needed Whole

Flaky sea salt

Instructions

1

Preheat the oven to 350F (175C) and line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.

2

Whisk together flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt in a medium sized bowl. Set aside.

3

In a large bowl, whisk together melted and cooled butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar for 1-2 minutes until paste-like.

4

Whisk in the egg and vanilla until smooth.

5

Fold in dry ingredients with a rubber spatula, leaving a few streaks of flour. Add chocolate chips and fold until evenly distributed and no flour streaks remain.

6

Scoop 5 large cookies onto the baking sheet with a 2oz cookie scoop or 1/4 cup measure and bake for 12-15 minutes. For smaller cookies, scoop 6 and bake for 10-12 minutes.

7

Cookies are done when edges are golden but centers are pale and puffed. If they spread too much, nudge in the sides with a fork immediately after baking.

8

Top fresh cookies with extra chocolate chips and a sprinkle of sea salt.

9

Transfer to a cooling rack and cool for about 20 minutes before serving.
